If you haven’t been to the Getty Center in Los Angeles, you’re missing out. An entire day could easily be spent here. From fantastic art and architecture to breathtaking gardens and views of the Pacific ocean coastline and downtown LA.
We took a few hours this afternoon to go check it out with our friends Carol and Lindey. Being a photography fanatic, I was anxious to go see the Edward Weston exhibit. I was inspired to force myself to shoot in B&W for a while. Usually I’m thinking too commercially and figure I can just shoot in color then convert to BW. Truth is, I never do it. There is something about removing color from a scene that simplifies it to put more focus on the subject matter. My goal is to shoot for the next month in BW. I may get tired of it, but it will be a good exercise for me. Should change up my sunset pics a bit. Unfortunately I wasn’t anxious to carry my SLR around, and our point and shoot is not with us this trip . . . so thank goodness for camera phones.
Next time you’re in LA, go check out this museum. It truly is breathtaking. Admission is free. Parking is eight bucks. Food is rather spendy, so if you do plan to be there a while, pack a picnic. Trust me. It’s one of the best and cheapest things you can do in LA. If you want someone to go with . . . call us!
